The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, participated in the Informal Ministerial Meeting of the Mediterranean Group (Med Group) which took place in Alicante, Spain, on 14 April 2014.

The Mediterranean Group has been formed on the initiative of the Cypriot Foreign Minister and constitutes an informal negotiation and coordination group of the seven Mediterranean EU member states (Cyprus, Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Malta.)
The first meeting of the Med Group took place in Brussels last December, chaired by Mr Kasoulides, while Spain hosted the second Ministerial Meeting in Alicante, chaired by the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr José Manuel García-Margallo. During yesterday’s meeting, the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Med Group discussed issues relating to the Neighborhood Policy, with emphasis on the Southern Dimension, the role of the “Union for the Mediterranean”, as well as the migration flows in the Mediterranean in relation, also, with the followed EU approach.
