Toast by the President of the Republic at the official dinner
hosted in honour of the Prime Minister of Estonia

Dear Taavi,
Members of the Estonian delegation, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to extend once again, a very warm welcome to His Excellency Prime Minister Roivas and the Estonian delegation.

As I have already made remarks to the Press, I am going to keep this toast very brief.

It is both an honour and a pleasure to host you in Cyprus, particularly given that this is your first official visit to my country, and indeed the first official visit by an Estonian Prime Minister to the Republic of Cyprus.

Cyprus and Estonia share many similarities. We are both small European countries. However, our respective strategic locations allow us to play a leading role in the EU and even beyond.

Our bilateral ties are at an excellent level, but there is certainly room to expand and deepen our mutually beneficial cooperation. We are already working towards a more strategic and comprehensive relationship with Estonia in several fields, including e-governance and ICT, trade and investments, as well as within the tourism and maritime industries.

Your visit here today, Mr Prime Minister, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on E-Governance and Information and Communication Technologies, bear witness to the ever closer partnership that is developing between our countries, together with our joint commitment to further enhance our cooperation.

With this in mind I propose a toast to the wellbeing of the Prime Minister Roivas, his delegation, the people of Estonia and to the further development of Cyprus - Estonia relations. And now, ladies and gentlemen, please raise your glasses.
