Travel Advice
for Thailand by the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs
Citizens of the Republic of Cyprus, who are permanent residents or
intend to travel to Thailand, are advised to avoid all but essential
travel to the country.
Following the events of the 22nd of May 2014 in Thailand,
the army has imposed martial law while a curfew is in place between 22:00 and
5:00 ( it does not apply to people travelling to or from airports); and banned political
gatherings (military has arrested some participants for failing to comply with
orders to cease protest activity).
There is an increased military presence in the capital Bangkok and
the surrounding provinces, including in areas frequented by tourists.
The security situation in the country
remains volatile and Cypriot citizens who
are visiting or intend to travel to Thailand are advised to limit their
movement, avoid areas of mass gatherings, monitor news reports (international
and local) for any developments, and follow the instructions of the local
Authorities.
In case of emergency, Cypriot citizens can contact the Duty Officer
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on +35 7 99660129, or the Crisis Management
Department at the MFA on +35 7 22801000 or the High Commission of the Republic
