Congratulatory message by the President of the Federal Republic of
Germany to the President of the Republic on the occasion of the
anniversary
of the Republic of Cyprus' Independence
On
the occasion of Independence Day of the Republic of Cyprus, on 1st
October, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr Joackim
Gauck sent the following congratulatory message to the President of
the Republic Mr Nicos Anastasiades:.
“On
the occasion of the 54th
anniversary of your country’s independence, permit me to offer you
and the people of the Republic of Cyprus my sincere congratulations,
also on behalf of my compatriots.
The negotiations resumed in February of this year to overcome the
painful division of Cyprus are not least thanks to your personal
commitment and the will of your people. Allow me to encourage you and
your country’s people to continue to strive for a joint solution to
the conflict.
With regard to the effects of the adaptation and reform programme on
your country, I would like to express my respect for the resolve and
readiness of the people of Cyprus to continue the process they have
started
Rest assured that Germany stands shoulder to shoulder with Cyprus and
will support your country in its efforts to manage these manifold
tasks.”
