The Minister of Foreign Affairs will participate in
the informal meetings
of the General Affairs Council and the Foreign Affairs
Council
The Minister of
Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, departs today for Milan, where he will
participate in the informal meeting of the General Affairs Council (GAC) on 28
– 29 August and the informal Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the
EU (Gymnich) on 29 – 30 August.
During the
deliberations of the informal GAC, the EU Foreign Ministers will discuss, inter
alia, the functioning of the EU system, the implementation of the strategic
agenda for the Union in times of change, the role of the GAC and how the
current Council configurations would help foster EU priorities.
During the
deliberations of Gymnich, the Ministers will discuss, inter alia, the latest
developments in the Middle East Peace Process, the Eastern Partnership and the Southern
Neighbourhood, with emphasis on the situation in the Gaza Strip, Ukraine, Syria
and Iraq respectively.
Minister
Kasoulides will return to Cyprus on Sunday, 31 August.
