The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos
Anastasiades, met today with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin
Hamad Al Thani, at the Emir’s Diwan in Doha.
The President, accompanied by the Cypriot
delegation arrived this morning at the Diwan where he was welcomed by the Emir,
in the presence of an Honorary Guard.
At the welcoming ceremony, the National
Anthems of the Republic of Cyprus and the State of Qatar were played and later
on the President reviewed the Honorary Guard.
President Anastasiades and the Emir then held
a private meeting, followed by expanded talks between the delegations of the
two countries.
The Cypriot delegation comprises the
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, the Minister of Energy,
Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, the Minister of
Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment, Mr Nicos Kouyialis, the
Ambassador of the Republic in Doha, Mr Charalambos Panayides, the Government
Spokesman, Mr Christos Stylianides, the Under Secretary to the President, Mr
Constantinos Petrides, the Director of the President’s Diplomatic Office, Mr
Nicos Christodoulides, and other officials.
