at the event for RCB Bank’s 20th Anniversary

A very warm welcome to Cyprus.
Dear Mr Zimarin,
Dear Mr Zackheos,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
My initiative for the founding of the Independent Social Support Body
had one primary goal: To offer tangible support to students in need who are
facing serious financial difficulties in completing their university studies in
a completely transparent way. It is an institution voted unanimously by the
Parliament, chaired by the First lady of Cyprus, governed by a committee
comprising of the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries of Education, Health
and Labour as well as the State Accountant and audited by the State Auditor. The
detailed and audited annual report it will issue, ensures that every single
donation is accounted for.
The Body will remain active and shall continue to provide support for
many generations and presidencies to come.
Its founding would not have been possible without the valuable
support from socially responsible companies and distinguished personalities from
Cyprus and abroad who embraced my initiative from the very first moment. I am
pleased and grateful to note that RCB Bank was the first banking institution to
immediately commit in supporting this noble cause. Rest assured that with your
valuable donation you will be providing Cypriot students the possibility to
fulfil their dream for a university education. In essence, RCB bank is investing
in the future of Cyprus.
I would therefore like to thank you, not only for supporting the
Independent Social Support Body but for your overall generous and active social
work that touches so many Cypriots in need and helps the promotion of culture.
Please accept my sincere congratulations on your 20 th anniversary along with my very best wishes
for every success in the future!
