Joint Search and Rescue (SAR) Exercise
SAREX “CYPUSA - 01/16”
A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) Daylight Exercise, titled
“CYPUSA-01/16,” will be conducted on Monday, the 29th of February 2016, near the
coast of Cyprus, with the participation of SAR Units and Personnel from the
Republic of Cyprus and the United States of America.
A U.S. Navy Command and Control and Helicopters of the Republic of
Cyprus will take part in the Aeronautical SAR Exercise under the operational
control and full coordination of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC)
Larnaca.
This will be the first exercise on SAR matters, within 2016, between
the JRCC Larnaca (which represents the SAR system of the Republic of Cyprus) and
the U.S. Navy, while two similar type exercises took place in 2015.
