The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos
Anastasiades, will pay a four-day visit to London, as a guest of the British
government, during which he will meet with the British Prime Minister, Mr David
Cameron.
The President of the Republic will be
accompanied by his spouse Mrs Andrie Anastasiades, the Minister of Foreign
Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, the Minister of Finance, Mr Harris Georgiades,
the Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr Yiorgos Lakkotrypis,
the Government Spokesman, Mr Christos Stylianides, the Deputy Permanent
Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tasos Tzionis, the
Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President, Mr Nicos Christodoulides
and other officials.
The President will arrive in London
tomorrow (14 January) in the afternoon and in the evening he will speak at an
event of the Cypriot community, which will host a dinner in his honour.
On the morning of 15 January, the
President of the Republic and his delegation will attend a working breakfast
with the British Foreign Secretary, Mr William Hague. At noon on the same day, President
Anastasiades will meet with the British Prime Minister, Mr David Cameron at 10
Downing Street. The meeting is expected to deal with issues concerning the
bilateral relations between Cyprus and the United Kingdom and ways for
strengthening them further, the relations of the two countries at the broader
level of the European Union, economic cooperation and issues related in general
to the economy and investments, as well as energy issues.
In the evening, the President of the
Republic will attend a dinner hosted in his honour by the Energy Secretary of
Britain, Mr Michael Fallon.
On 16 January, President Anastasiades will
attend a working breakfast with members of the House of Commons and the House
of Lords, and he will subsequently speak at an event organized in his honour by
the University College of London (Law Faculty) on the subject of Maritime Law.
The President of the Republic will lay a
wreath at Westminster Abbey and in the afternoon he will speak at an event
organized by the London School of Economics.
On 17 January, the President and the
members of the Cyprus delegation will attend a working breakfast with the Lord
Mayor of the City of London, Mrs Fiona Woolf.
During his visit toLondon, the President
of the Republic will grant interviews to British and community media.
On the sidelines of the President’s visit,
the Ministers accompanying him will have separate meetings and will give
interviews to British media.
President Anastasiades and his delegation
will return to Cyprus in the evening of 17 January.
