The President of the Republic received the salute of the military
parade on the occasion of the anniversary of the Independence Day of the
Republic of Cyprus
The President of the Republic Mr Nicos Anastasiades received today,
in Nicosia, the salute of the military parade on the occasion of the anniversary
of the Independence Day of the Republic of Cyprus.
At the conclusion of the parade, the President of the Republic told
reporters, among other things, that “in spite of the emotional charge and pride
that everyone feels for the superbly trained sections of the National Guard,
such conditions must be created so that there will never again be a need for any
intervention that will lead to all those things that none of us wish for.
What I want to say one more time is about our determination to work
so that a way for a peaceful solution to the Cyprus problem is found, a solution
that will vindicate the expectations and the reasonable concerns of the European
citizens of Cyprus, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, a viable and functional
solution that will provide for a modern state and will guarantee the future of
the new generations.”
