IRENA’s workshop on “Renewable Energy Applications for Island Tourism”
organized in Cyprus
O n the 29th and 30th of May , the Ministry of Energy,
Commerce, Industry and Tourism and the International Renewable Energy Agency
(IRENA) are organizing a Workshop on “Renewable Energy Applications for Island
Tourism”, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Aphrodite Hills Resort, in Paphos. The
opening speech will be delivered by the Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry
and Tourism Mr Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, whereas on the second day of the Workshop, the President of the Republic Mr Nicos Anastasiades will address the
delegates.
The agenda of the Workshop, to be attended by around 80 delegates from more than 20 countries, includes the presentation
of successful renewable energy applications and technologies that can potentially be deployed in island tourism in the near future, as well as the
discussion of best practices and policies applied in promoting renewables in
Cyprus and abroad. The objective is the exchange of experiences and information between stakeholders in the tourism sector, with an eye on tackling common
challenges.
