Remarks by the Government Spokesman and
the Doctor
of the President of the Republic with
regard to the condition of his health
Τhe condition of the health of the President of the Republic, Mr Nicos
Anastasiades, is under control and there is no reason for any concern, the attending
physician of the President, Dr Savvas Kadis, said yesterday, in the presence of
the Government Spokesman, Mr Nikos Christodoulides.
In his remarks to the press, Dr Kadis, who
is a specialist in Gastroenterology, said that “at noon today the President was
admitted to the Aretaieio Hospital with symptoms of gastroenteritis which he
suffered during the past few days. We decided that since the symptoms continued
he should be admitted to the hospital for supportive therapy.”
On his part, Mr Christodoulides said that
“the meeting scheduled for the 23rd of June with the leader of the
Turkish Cypriot community has been postponed and, depending on the
recommendations of the doctors, we will decide accordingly with regard to the
European Council meeting in Brussels, which begins on Thursday,” and which the
President is scheduled to attend.
In response to a question, the Government
Spokesman said that the President continues to exercise his duties from the hospital.
