The
President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, following his
telephone communication yesterday with the President of the European
Council, Mr Herman Van Rompuy, communicated today by telephone, on
his own initiative, with the President of the European Commission, Mr
José Manuel Barroso, and the President of the European Parliament,
Mr Martin Schulz.
In
the course of their conversations, the President of the Republic
briefed Mr Barroso and Mr Schulz, among other issues, about the
latest developments on the Cyprus problem and more specifically on
the efforts to achieve an agreement on a substantive joint communiqué
that would allow the resumption of the talks with prospects for
completion.
