Deliberations
of the annual meeting
of
the Heads of Diplomatic Missions begin
The
deliberations of the Annual Meeting of the Heads of Diplomatic
Missions of the Republic of Cyprus will start tomorrow, Wednesday, 30
July, and will last until Friday, 1 August. During the Meeting, there
will be, inter alia, a review on issues of foreign policy and
regional security, on the bilateral relations between Cyprus and
third countries and the participation of Cyprus in international
organisations.
The
agenda of the Annual Meeting will start, on 30 July, with the meeting
of the Minister of Foreign Affairs with the Heads of Diplomatic
Missions accredited to the countries of North Africa, Middle East and
the Gulf, in order to discuss specific issues and the geopolitical
developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
From
31 July to 1 August, the Heads of Diplomatic Missions will be
informed by the President of the Republic and the Greek Cypriot
negotiator on the negotiation process and by the Ministers of Energy,
Commerce, Industry and Tourism and the Minister of Finance on issues
of their competence with particular emphasis on energy, the
attraction of foreign investment and the implementation of the
adjustment program.
On
Friday, 1 July, the Heads of Diplomatic Missions of the Republic will
be briefed by the Foreign Minister on foreign policy issues, with
emphasis on what has been accomplished in the last year under the new
orientation of the foreign policy of Cyprus as well as the role of
Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
The Heads of Diplomatic
Missions will also discuss the reform of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs in the framework of the wider reform efforts of the civil
service.
