The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr
Nicos Anastasiades, who arrived yesterday afternoon in Doha, Qatar for a
three-day official visit, accompanied by his spouse Mrs Andri Anastasiades and
a high level delegation, begins today his official meetings.
The Cypriot delegation, which accompanies the
President, comprises the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Energy,
Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources
and the Environment, the Government Spokesman, the Under Secretary to the
President, the Ambassador of the Republic in Doha, the Director of the
President’s Diplomatic Office and other officials. On the sidelines of the
President’s visit, the Ministers will also hold separate meetings with
officials of the State of Qatar.
This morning the President of the Republic will
meet with the CEO of the Qatar Investment Authority.
The President will then depart for the Palace of
the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where there will be an
official welcoming ceremony. He will later hold a private meeting with the Emir
of Qatar, which will be followed by expanded talks between the delegations of
the two countries.
A number of agreements will then be signed
between the Republic of Cyprus and the State of Qatar with regard to bilateral
cooperation in the fields of education, energy, desalination and water waste
treatment and the legal field.
Following the signing of the agreements, the
President will attend an official lunch given in his honor by the Emir of
Qatar.
Later on, the President will visit the Museum of
Islamic Art in Doha where he will sign the Book of Visitors.
After that, the President will meet with
representatives of the Qatari Islamic Bank.
In the afternoon, the President will meet with
the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Later on, the President of the Republic will
meet with a delegation of the Qatari Business Association.
In the evening, the President and his delegation
will attend a reception hosted by, among others, the Embassy of the Republic of
Cyprus in Doha, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Cyprus
Qatar Business Association.
