Europe Development Bank (CEB), Mr Rolf Wenzel.
At the meeting, the President Anastasiades and Governor Wenzel discussed, inter alia, the course of the
recovery of the Cypriot economy and the social challenges that Europe is facing
today.
President Anastasiades briefed Mr Wenzel on the course
of the negotiations with regard to the efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem. In
this regard, reference was made to the important role CEB could play, in case of
a solution to the Cyprus problem, with regard to the financial aspect of the
issue.
During the discussion, the positive course of the
Cypriot economy was underlined, in view of the restoration of financial
stability and the return to positive rates of growth, thereby, opening the
prospects for the funding of new development projects. Within this context, it
was agreed that the possibility for the financing by CEB of a number of
development projects, which have recently been announced by the government,
should be explored.
