The Cyprus-Egypt-Greece Tripartite Meeting took place in Nicosia


The Cyprus-Egypt-Greece tripartite Meeting took place today at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia.

In the morning, the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Anastasiades welcomed the President of Egypt Mr. Abdul Fatah El Sisi and his entourage at the Presidential Palace.

During the official welcoming ceremony a military guard presented honors. Following the performance of the National Anthems of the two countries, President Sissi laid a wreath at the statue of Archbishop Makarios III, the first president of the Republic of Cyprus.

President Sisi was accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Investments and Energy, Messrs. Sameh Hassan Shoukry, Ashaf Abdel Tawab and Sherif Ismail respectively.

A private meeting followed between the President of the Republic and President Sissi and then expanded talks took place between the delegations of the two countries.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister of Greece Mr. Alexis Tsipras arrived at the Presidential Palace who was officially received by President Anastasiades, while a military guard presented honors. Following the performance of the National Anthems, the Prime Minister laid a wreath at the statue of President Makarios.

The Prime minister of Greece was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Nikos Kotzias.

A private meeting followed between President Sisi and the Greek Prime Minister and then expanded talks took place between the delegations of the two countries.
A private meeting followed among the three leaders and then expanded talks among the delegations of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt.

The three leaders then made statements to the mass media during which they referred to the joint declaration which they issued, the Nicosia Declaration.

Finally, President Sisi, Prime Minister Tsipras and the members of their delegations participated in a working lunch, at the presidential Palace, which was hosted in their honor by President Anastasiades.
