The Minister of
Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, departs today for Berlin where he will hold
a three-day official visit, in view of the upcoming visit of the President of
the Republic to Germany next May.
During his stay
in Berlin, Minister Kasoulides will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Germany, Mr Frank-Walter Steinmeir, with whom he will discuss, inter alia, bilateral
relations, the Cyprus problem, developments in the
Eastern Partnership and the situation in the Southern Neighbourhood, the
Western Balkans, as well as other European issues of common interest.
The Minister of Foreign
Affairs will also meet with the Presidium of the Bundestag's German-Cypriot
Parliamentary Friendship Group, under its President, Dr Dietmar Bartsch. Mr
Kasoulides will also hold separate meetings with the Director-General of the
Foreign Policy and Security Advisor to the Federal Chancellor, Dr Christoph
Heusgen, and the Director General for European Affairs at the Federal
Chancellery, Dr Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut.
In the framework
of his visit, Minister Kasoulides will deliver a speech at the foundation
Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, entitled “Geopolitics in Eastern Mediterranean: A
Cypriot Perspective”, and will give interviews to representatives of local and
international media.
The Minister of Foreign
Affairs returns to Cyprus on Thursday, April 10.
