1. Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades is in Brussels, to attend the two-day session of the European Council, on Thursday and Friday. He is also taking part in the European People’s Party Summit, to be held prior to the European Council. On Thursday, the President will attend the Euro Summit meeting.

2. The viability of Cyprus’ public debt will be the main issue on the agenda of the extraordinary meeting of the Eurozone Ministers of Finance, which will be held on Friday in Brussels, a few hours after the conclusion of the two-day European Council. According to Eurozone sources, all alternative solutions for making the Cypriot debt viable will be discussed, and everyone’s aim will be to reach an agreement this month.
3. The Central Bank of Cyprus began Wednesday the process for the selection of an independent auditing firm, which will carry out an independent evaluation of the implementation of the anti-money laundering legal framework in Cypriot financial institutions.
4. Cypriot Minister of Finance Michalis Sarris will be in Moscow on Monday for talks with his Russian counterpart, Anton Germanovich Siluanov, on ways with which Russia could help the Republic of Cyprus overcome its financial problems.
5. Defence Minister Photis Photiou sought Germany’s support of Cyprus’ request to join the Partnership for Peace (PfP), during a meeting with the German Ambassador to Cyprus Gabriela Guellil, on Wednesday. Cyprus` accession to the PfP is one of the priorities of the newly-elected government.
6. President of the House of Representatives Yiannakis Omirou will pay a working visit to London. Omirou departs on Thursday for the British capital, where he will hold meetings with Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain, British MPs and MEPs, and representatives of the Cypriot community in London.
7. Israeli helicopters arrived Wednesday morning in Cyprus to participate in a common drill with the Republic of Cyprus, in the framework of bilateral agreements signed between the two countries, Defence Minister Fotis Fotiou said here today.
8 Commissioner for Cypriots living abroad and other religious groups Kaiti Clerides and Commissioner of Environment Ioanna Panayiotou were presented with their appointment acts by President Nicos Anastasiades at a ceremony which took place at the Presidential Palace Wednesday.
9 The Council of Europe`s Committee on Culture, Science, Education and Media has decided to appoint Cypriot MP Nicos Nikolaides as its representative.
