The President of the Republic received
the Foreign Minister of Egypt
The President of the Republic Mr Nicos Anastasiades
received today, at the Presidential Palace, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Egypt, Mr Sameh Hassan Shoukry.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the
Egyptian Foreign Minister said: “It was an honor to have the opportunity to
meet the President. It was an important meeting were I had the honor of
conveying to the President the best regards of President Abdel Fattah el Sisi
and that he is very much looking forward to seeing the President once again in
Cairo on the 8th (of November) for the trilateral Summit to be held between
Egypt, Greece and Cyprus.
We discussed a wide range of issues related to ways of
improving our bilateral relationship and also our trilateral relationship with
our Greek brothers and friends, and we also discussed various regional problems
related to the situation in Libya and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the
developments in Iraq and our mutual participation in the coalition against
Da’ish (ISIS).
It was a very rewarding meeting for me. I heard the
President's comments and his evaluation of the situation, and we are looking
forward to continuing our cooperation. A great deal of the meeting was also on
our bilateral relation, where the President indicated his desire to strengthen
cooperation especially in the economic field, something that will result in
better standards of living for both Cypriots and Egyptians.”
