Minister
of Foreign Affairs participates in the EU Foreign Affairs Council
and
General Affairs Council
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr
Ioannis Kasoulides, departs today for Brussels, where he will participate
tomorrow in the deliberations of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) of the EU.
During the FAC, the High Representative
of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Baroness Catherine
Ashton, will de-brief on the Iran talks, following the latest round which was
held in Vienna. The EU Foreign Ministers will also discuss, inter alia, the
situation in Ukraine, the developments in Iraq, as well as the situation in
Gaza Strip and Israel, in light of the current events. Minister Kasoulides will
then participate in the meeting between the EU Foreign Ministers and the
Foreign Ministers of Eastern Partnership countries, as well as in the working
dinner hosted by the High Representative of the EU.
On Wednesday, 23 July, Minister
Kasoulides will participate in the General Affairs Council of the EU. The
agenda will include, inter alia, a presentation of the Italian Presidency work
programme, the accession of Lithuania to the Economic and Monetary Union, the
implementation of the European Council Conclusions, as well as a Mid-Term
Review of “Europe 2020” strategy.
Minister Kasoulides will return to
Cyprus on Wednesday, 23 July.
