The
President of the Republic of Cyprus,
Mr Nicos Anastasiades, accompanied by his spouse Mrs Andrie
Anastasiades, will depart on Sunday 26 January for Qatar along with a
high level delegation, where he will pay an official visit.
The
Cypriot delegation will comprise
the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, the Minister
of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Mr Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, the
Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment Mr
Nicos Kouyialis, the Government Spokesman Mr Christos Stylianides,
the Under Secretary to the President Mr Constantinos Petrides, the
Director of the President’s Diplomatic Office Mr Nicos
Christodoulides and other officials.
On Monday, 27
January, the President of the Republic will meet with the CEO of the
Qatar Investment Authority.
The
President will then depart for the
Diwan of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani where he
will be officially welcomed. He will later hold a private meeting
with the Emir of Qatar, which will be followed by expanded talks
between the delegations of the two countries.
A
number of agreements will then be signed between the Republic of
Cyprus and the State of Qatar with regard to bilateral cooperation in
the fields of education, energy, desalination and
water waste treatment and in the legal field.
Following
the signing of the agreements, the President will attend an official
lunch given in his honour
by the Emir of Qatar.
Later on, the
President will visit the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha where he will
sign the Book of Visitors.
After that, the
President will meet with representatives of the Qatari Islamic Bank.
In the
afternoon, the President of the Republic will meet with a delegation
of the Qatari Business Association. Later on the President and his
delegation will attend a reception hosted by, among others, the
Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Doha, the Cyprus Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, and the Cyprus Qatar Business Association.
On Tuesday, 28
January, the President of the Republic will address the Business
Forum organized by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and
the responding Chamber of Qatar, under the auspices of the Prime
Minister of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani.
In the framework
of the Business Forum, a Protocol of Cooperation will be signed
between the Chambers of Commerce of Cyprus and Qatar.
Afterwards,
President Anastasiades will meet with representatives of the real
estate investment company Qatari Diar.
The President of
the Republic and the Cyprus delegation will depart from Doha for
Cyprus, in the afternoon of January 28.
