The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides will
participate tomorrow, Monday, 20 January, in the deliberations of the Foreign
Affairs Council (FAC) of the European Union, to be held in Brussels.
Issues on the agenda of the FAC will include, inter alia, the
developments in the Southern Neighbourhood, with particular emphasis on Syria
and Egypt, the Middle East Peace Process, the EU strategic engagement in
Afghanistan and the situation in the Central African Republic, considering a
possible crisis management operation in the framework of the Common Security and
Defence Policy. Furthermore, the EU Foreign Minister will exchange views on EU –
Russia relations, in view of the upcoming EU-Russia Summit, which will take
place in Brussels between 27-28 January 2014.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will return to Cyprus on Tuesday, 21
January.
